Verona: From the city of love

After leaving Giovinazzo for Christmas, we decided to go on a short trip along Italy for the holidays. The first stop was Bologna, then Verona and then Milan, but I wanted to share some photos from Verona since it was where we spent the last day of 2013 and the first of 2014.

They say that Verona is the city of love and it does have that romantic vibe to it. Mostly from the streets, the lights, the house of Juliet of course and all the historical monuments and architectures. To start off our one week trip along northern Italy and also wish everyone a happy new year, here are some shots from the city of Romeo and Juliet.

v1I have to say Verona needs to work on its souvenirs. They were, well, a bit too tacky. If you have such a great inspiration (I mean, what more can you ask for?), you should at least have something more than these? We also paid a visit to Juliet’s house, which is not real by the way (gasp!). More photos and info will be up on the next blog post!

v4This is Piazzale Castel San Pietro. You can walk up the stairs to the top and see an overview of the city. It takes about 15 minutes to get to the top and I have to say the view is indeed worth the trip. I was also very tempted to photoshop that construction crane…

Aaaaaaand Happy New Year! We waited for the first day of 2014 in front of the Verona Arena, which is a Roman amphitheater, and the fireworks shooting up from the inside was quite a sight. Minus the technical glitch they had in the middle of the hype.

v7Ah, the city of love.

After the last crazy day of 2013, we could find so many empty/half full bottles of Prosecco around the city. At least they could have finished them!
