I’ve never seen so many olive trees in my life. And guess what, this area is known to produce more than half of the entire world’s olives/ olive oil. So it was quite obvious when some friends said they were planning to have a barbeque in the middle of an olive garden. Except that as soon as the sun set, it got dark. Really dark. I could hear wild dogs howling at one point and every swishing of tree branches gave me goosebumps.
One advice when going to an olive garden, or any type of garden in the summer. Spray something to prevent mosquito bites. I learned that the hard way. Still have some scars left on my leg. Dang.
바리에 도착해서 공항에서 내리자마자 주위를 살펴보면 바닷가까지 펼쳐져 있는 올리브나무들을 쉽게 볼 수 있다. 사실 이 지방은 전세계 올리브와 올리브유의 50%이상을 만들어내는 곳임. 워낙 날씨가 무덥고 건조해서 올리브나무들이 특히나 잘 자란다고. 햇빛이 워낙 강하고 바닷물이 굉장히 짜서 어떤 과일이든 채소이건 맛도 색감도 강하다. 여기서 토마토를 사서 파스타 소스 만들면 굉장함. 사진들은 G의 친구들이랑 올리브나무들 사이로 바베큐를 하면 찍었던 것인데 겉으로 내색은 안했지만 엄청 무서웠음. 주위가 깜깜하고 별들이 잘 보이는 대신에 야생 개들이 엄청 짖어대서 덜덜덜. 불이 있고 사람들이 많아서 근처로는 오지 않을것이라고 다들 안심시키는데 전혀 설득력이 없어서 혼자 속으로 겁먹고 있었음. 혹시라도 개들이 오면 어디로 도망가지 상상하고 있는 나 자신을 발견. 이래서 운전을 잘해야하는거였음. 들개와 좀비들을 피하기 위해서.
